We are pleased to announce Todd Gilpin and Fort Wayne Sport Club as the new directors of Roanoke Youth Soccer. Long time director John Nelson is stepping away from the program after nearly 20 years in the program.

Stepping in for John is Todd Gilpin, president at Fort Wayne Sport Club Youth Soccer. Todd lives in the Roanoke area and has periodically been involved with RYS as a coach, parent, sponsor, referee and consultant for the past 17 years. He brings almost 30 years’ experience in youth soccer as a coach, manager, and administrator.

We feel Todd and FWSC’s mission align with the values of the community and RYS programs and will be an asset to the continued success of the program.

Fort Wayne Sport Club Youth Soccer is a community based, volunteer run, non-profit (501c3) organization. The roots of the club were founded in 1927 and was the first organization to bring youth soccer to the area through Fort Wayne CYO leagues. Currently FWSC serves over 1000 players in recreational and travel programs. FWSC serves the community through their outreach programs to players in areas under-served by youth soccer. They also have the area’s only TOPSoccer program for all athletes with intellectual, emotional, and or physical disabilities.

Todd and Fort Wayne Sport Club are dedicated to providing opportunities for our youth to play the beautiful game and continuing the great Ronaoke soccer program.

“Roanoke is a great community to raise a family and the local sports are part of this. The RYS program is an amazing example of a community program that serves and benefits our youth. This is rare in the current youth sports landscape.” – Todd Gilpin

John will continue to serve as a consultant during the transition and we feel you the change in administration will likely not be noticed by our families and players. We thank John for his service to the program and the Roanoke community.
