Program Overview

This program is designed to focus on skills development in a fun and competative atmosphere with training conducted by licensed, professional trainers and local games against other clubs and leagues.

Two training sessions per week and games on Sunday afternoons for 10 weeks starting April 12th and finishing June 6th. Cost for uniform, training, and games is only $175 per season! The maximum enrollment for this program is only 98 children per season for the first year. There will be three seasons offered - Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Training

Training will focus on footskills development, small group play, and nuturing a passion for the game that will last a lifetime. Training Topics will include: 1v1 Moves, First Touch, Shooting, and Speed of Play. Games and training will be competative, but the focus will always be on how your child is developing, not on whether the team won or lost.

Teams

The teams will be coached during games by highly motivated volunteer coaches who will also receive training and support from Coach Rodgers and his staff. Games may include inter league matches played at the Ft Wayne Sport Club amongst the enrolled students, and friendly matches with local leagues and clubs. There will be NO travel for U9 teams or players. U10 teams and players may be allowed to travel to tournaments and play in the Spring NISL Academy league, but only with the Director's approval.

Although this policy may sound restrictive to some, it is the experience and opinion of the Director, this club, the state association, the national federation, and most of the world's governing bodies that we are doing young players a huge diservice by focusing too much on team results and not enough on their actual ability to: #1 Control the Ball, #2 Be Creative and Insightful in their play, and #3 Have Fun! This program is dedicated to fostering success in all three of those areas - if we happen to see some winning soccer along the way then we'll consider it icing on the cake!

The fact is, kids who play on a winning soccer team at age 10 do not neccesarily go on to have success as a team or as individuals later on. Kids who learn to play the game with skill and passion by age 10 most often go on to love the game for life and have tremendous success also. As for Ft Wayne Sport Club, we are committed to the long term goals, not the short term successes.

Come find out why we believe, "Winning is Not the Most Important Thing, but Wanting to Win Is."
